Review:

Nyctophobia is an extreme or irrational fear of the night or of darkness. This collection absolutely lives up to its title! Each story in this book was first relayed to the narrator by someone else and he in turn tells us the story as he heard it. It reminds me of the way we share ghost stories around a campfire. While we may never know if the tales are true, there is enough detail to make them feel very real.

The stories provide a range of troubling experiences; from a terrifying video game to a haunted hotel room to a strange carnival ride. They are not just scary but also funny, touching, and even happy – or at least make you wish for a happy ending. I thought the illustrations enhance the atmospheric, spooky vibe of the book. Each artwork showcases a variety of styles and creativity. Some of them I would be afraid to find in the dark! If you love horror stories, this would be perfect for you. But maybe don’t read it at night!
